Girl’s Goin 2 Werq
by Melanie Schnitzlein | @sketchyblonde | www.thatsketchyblonde.tumblr.com
Twas a gloomy, drizzly day in Brooklyntown. Someone’s got a serious case of the b-face (who, moi?), but I think I made it werq (hehe. Hehe. Ok, no. Sorry). I see a leeeetle smirk in there - maybe this hot pink embroidered pencil skirt was cheering me up just a tiny bit? It’s sort of my new love. Especially since I have it on with stripes…THAT ARE SEQUINED. This outfit harkens back to a summer post we did here on the ole Closet Freaks, where I looked really drunk/discussed the serious importance of pairing your floral booty shorts with a striped crop top. Now, here we have a winter-ized version - florals on your butt, stripes on your top. Instead of black tights, I chose to continue picking up the color of the skirt with a sheer gray pair instead, and paired the whole thing with a geometric gold bib necklace and some pointy toe heels. Um…I can’t believe I’m wearing pointy toe heels.
Skirt - Anthropologie. Bought this recently but it appears to have sold out already! Kinda into this Express one.
Sweater - JCrew, this Michael Kors one is fly, too.
Necklace - Milly & Earl, or buy me this Sorrelli one OR this Bauble Bar one.
Bag - Marc by Marc Jacobs, this would be a good bright clutch to own.
Tights - Gap
Shoes - My mom’s closet, but get these and be queen of all the ladies.

The changing of the seasons makes me insane. The second the temperature dips or rises, I’m ready to throw out my entire wardrobe and shop like crazy til I’ve replaced the whole damn thing. But who’s got the time or the bank account for that - amirite ladies?? Here’s a select few choices I think will go the distance this fall season.
- Witchy Ass Black Dress - fancy, sexy, gothy. But you can style it so many ways, and if your friends are chill/oblivious, they won’t call you out on the fact that you’re wearing it every Saturday night. Try this or that from ASOS, this hot one, or you’ve got uno // dos from Shopbop.
- Sequin Collar Shirt - Wear it all proper to work or knot it at your middle for party times. I bought myself a Maison Scotch one and enjoy it greatly. Here’s the camo version (someone please buy this), a Forever21 cheapie, or a slighly dressier version from Sanctuary.
- Leopard Print Jeans - Wear these anywhere, literally any event. I don’t care where you’re going. Marlene Birger, Modcloth, Cheap Monday and Joe’s Jeans have options for ya.
- Jazzy Loafers - One small step above your basic ballet flat, but just as comfortable. Please, get a pair. Your mom would want you to. You’ve seen my By Paige foxies before, and Galo makes a nice needlepoint as well. I envy the cool bitches in cap toes, plus you’ve got sparkles studs and Loeffler Randall being perfect, duh.
